A technician at Sea to Sky Optometry is responsible for delivering an excellent patient experience while taking vision measurements and operating equipment. This is typically called pre-testing in the optometry industry. The technician is responsible for greeting our patients making them feel welcome and comfortable so strong interpersonal skills with all demographics is required. The technician spends time interacting with the patient before they are seen by the doctor. Pre-testing includes taking measurements of the cornea, screening for glaucoma, retinal photography, OCT, and visual field testing. There is an opportunity to learn more about optometry and operating a small business. We offer high technology optometrists on demand eye exams where the technician is responsible for all of the preliminary testing and the optometrist analyzes the data online and meets with the patient over a video conference to provide a diagnosis and management plan. There is opportunity to be involved in the high technology aspect of the business, which would focus on improving efficiency and patient care. Checking in patients for appointments
