The Manager of Affiliate Societies works under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO). As a member of the CAR membership team specific responsibilities relate to all areas related to membership and affiliates, including but not exclusive to; developing a long-term affiliate strategy, evaluating and implementing changes to the affiliate structure, development of guidelines by affiliate groups and managing and applying for grants to support affiliates.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders, members, and staff to manage affiliate societies
  • Produce affiliate society guidelines
  • Manage and apply for grants for affiliates
  • Use the affiliate groups to support the development of accreditation standards

Duties:

  • Affiliate Management
  • Work with members of Affiliate Societies to set strategic direction
  • Create and maintain terms of reference for new and existing Affiliate Societies
  • Maintain Conflict of Interest documentation for Affiliate Societies
  • Organize, attend and participate in Affiliate Society meetings.
  • Strategic planning for Affiliates bi-annually, and review status annually
  • Plan in-person meetings with the affiliates twice a year (at the ASM and the RSNA)
  • Develop guidelines with the support of the Affiliate Societies
  • Develop communications to promote the Affiliate Societies and their activities
  • Recruitment of future Affiliate Societies executive including residents
  • Follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Work with the Membership team to plan future initiatives for the Affiliate Societies
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained appropriately
  • Review and update website content
  • Work with Affiliate Societies to provide content for the CAR Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Apply for grants that use the specific knowledge of Affiliate Societies
  • Manage grants, including budgeting and reporting
  • Facilitate board presentations for Affiliate Societies including power point presentations and talking points
  • Support CAR accreditation processes using the skills of Affiliate Society members
  • And others, as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

The position requires:

  • French and English written and oral communication skills
  • Writing and proofreading capabilities
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize numerous projects
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Membership experience
  • Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • An interest in developing website update skills (WordPress)
  • Display of initiative while respecting established processes
  • Experience working with committees
  • Experience in professional development, accreditation processes, and database manipulation an asset

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor degree in mass communications or related field of study
  • Routine contacts expected with the following
  • CAR staff members; CAR Board of Directors; Affiliate Boards; CAR members; vendors, suppliers and other external parties as required.
