Position Summary: 

We are an interdisciplinary organization and are seeking a highly motivated Analytical Research Scientist to join the

Ripple team. The successful candidate will participate in the development of novel pharmaceutical compounds for use

in Ripple’s sustained drug delivery technology. They will be an integral part of the Analytical team working on projects

at various stages of development. The Analytical Research Scientist’s scope of responsibilities include performing

analytical method development, calibrations, assays, conducting stability testing as well as preparing the appropriate

protocols and reports. You are proficient with HPLC/UPLC and various wet chemistry techniques. Proficiency with

LCMS and/or GCMS is an asset. Knowledge and experience with materials testing using DSC and XRPD is an asset.

The ability to solve problems, perform work in a well-organized and logical manner, and communicate effectively are

attributes that will be critical to success in this position.

Essential Functions: 

  • Independently plan and execute HPLC method development efforts for the analysis of novel compounds and ensure they meet the specified criteria
  • Anticipate the need for investigational work, then independently plan and execute this work including data analysis and preparation of reports and presentations when needed
  • Oversee and provide direction to external analytical / bioanalytical work at CDMO/CROs, including tech transfers, document review, and ensuring key deliverables are achieved on time
  • Research and apply new analytical technologies / methodologies.
  • Perform HPLC calibrations, assays
  • Plan and prepare stability protocols for drug substance and drug product materials, carry out lab-work and prepare reports.
  • Perform HPLC testing and analysis, review data and present findings in a team setting
  • Perform DSC/XRPD testing and data analysis, as needed.
  • Perform analytical instrument upkeep, and organize / oversee preventative maintenance schedules with vendors
  • Contribute to developing new analytical and lab processes for team efficiencies
  • Write and review analytical components of key study reports, regulatory and quality documents
  • Maintain proper documentation of experiments with the use of electronic lab notebooks
  • Work in accordance with established good laboratory practices and safety requirements and support health and safety initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Education and Work Experience: 

  • • BSc or MSc degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar with 4-6 years of relevant industry experience (e.g.
  • analytical or quality control)
  • • PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience (e.g. analytical or quality
  • control)

Required Skills and Competencies: 

  • Highly experienced in operating liquid chromatography instrumentation
  • Highly proficient in chromatography method development and qualification
  • Experience with pharmaceutical analysis using liquid chromatography
  • Proficiency with mass spectrometry or LCMS instrumentation is an asset
  • Excellent skills in technical writing
  • Stays abreast of scientific literature and incorporates new methods and technologies into their research
  • Works independently in a safe manner within a wet laboratory
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize to adhere to timelines
