BioTalent Canada’s new initiative is designed to build meaningful relationships with Indigenous organizations, educators, community leaders and others who support Indigenous talent in Canada’s bioscience sector.
This network is not a product or program—it is a space for listening, collaboration and shared growth.
About the Indigenous Network
This network aims to understand how BioTalent Canada can support Indigenous communities in their visions of workforce, science and economic development. We are here to listen first, walk alongside and co-create pathways that reflect Indigenous values, strengths and realities.
Through the Indigenous Network, we aim to:
- Build trust through long-term relationship development
- Support Indigenous leadership in shaping research, outreach and scholarships
- Create opportunities for visibility and shared learning within the sector
- Strengthen Indigenous inclusion in Canada’s bioscience talent pipeline
Core values
- Relationship over transaction
- Reciprocity and co-creation
- Humility in learning

Looking ahead
We understand that trust takes time. In future phases of this network, we envision:
- Profile opportunities for Indigenous organizations within our communications
- Invitations to help guide BioTalent Canada’s I.D.E.A.L. Scholarship™ and labour market intelligence efforts (always by consent)
- Knowledge-sharing across Indigenous and bioscience communities
These will only move forward when relationships support them.
