BioTalent Canada launches training to help employers prevent and respond to workplace sexual harassment

BioTalent Canada is launching online training courses to empower managers and hiring leaders to confidently prevent and address workplace sexual harassment in Canada’s bio-economy. These courses will stand out for their sector-specific, actionable guidance and practical tools, designed to address real-world bio-economy challenges.

Through this initiative, BioTalent Canada is helping employers protect their teams, strengthen productivity and reduce legal and reputational risks. The training is part of the Building a safer bio-economy: Addressing sexual harassment in the workplace initiative, funded by the Department of Justice Canada.

The I.D.E.A.L. Scholarship™ recognizes students entering their first year of bioscience programs who are already making a difference by advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in their schools and communities. This year, BioTalent Canada will award three $10,000 scholarships to help reduce financial barriers and support the next generation of bioscience talent.

Applications open March 3rd.

Is your work helping the environment while driving innovation in Canada’s bio-economy?

You might qualify for up to $25,000 in funding to support youth working in bioscience and environmental positions that minimize a harmful effect to the environment.

Eligible activities include, but are not limited to:

Research & Development: Science-related activities and innovation.

Green Processes: Using equipment that reduces energy or waste.

Eco-Testing: Practices that lead to environmentally friendly outcomes.

BioTalent Canada’s Science Horizons Youth Internship Program helps bio-economy and environmental organizations offset the cost of hiring recent graduates for roles involving a green focus. An additional $5,000 is available to support training, skills development and essential services, giving both the employer and the new hire the tools they need to succeed.

Providence Therapeutics Announces World-First Personalized Pediatric mRNA Cancer Vaccine Trial

Providence Therapeutics, a Canadian clinical-stage mRNA biotechnology company, is supporting a world-first clinical trial evaluating personalized mRNA cancer vaccines for children with advanced and treatment-resistant brain tumors.

The PaedNEO-VAX trial, funded by Providence Therapeutics, in combination with the Australian Government and a host of philanthropic donors, is the first multi-site pediatric study to test individualized mRNA vaccines designed specifically for each child’s cancer.

The trial is co-led by The University of Queensland and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and will begin in the coming months across eight pediatric hospitals in Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia. It is sponsored by the Australia & New Zealand Children’s Haematology and Oncology Group (ANZCHOG).

Providence Therapeutics is contributing its proprietary mRNA vaccine platform and manufacturing expertise to support the creation of personalized vaccines tailored to each patient’s tumor biology.
