Report indicates growth across Canada’s biotech frontiers
A national Labour Market report released March 28 indicates Canada’s bio-economy is poised for growth. “Mapping the potential – Profiles of Canada’s biotech frontiers,” is BioTalent Canada’s first labour market information report that includes both national and provincial bio-economy snapshots. Wage Subsidies available for hiring internationally educated professionals
The BioReadyTM Paid Internship Program is an initiative that helps internationally educated professionals (IEPs) better integrate into the Canadian bio-economy by gaining valuable work experience. The program offers employers up to a maximum of $11,500 towards a salary as an incentive to hire, accommodate and train an IEPs.

Wage subsidies for student co-ops creating more opportunities in biotech
256 co-op students have begun new careers in the Canadian industry in 92 different biotech companies since September 2017 through the Government of Canada’s Student Work-Integrated Learning Program, launched by BioTalent Canada. The program provides first hand experience and enhances job-readiness of post-secondary STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and business students across Canada by offering up to $7,000 in co-op wage subsidies to bio-economy employers. New BioBenefits program allows Canadian biotech companies access to affordable employee benefits
BioTalent Canada announced its partnership with BioBenefits, a discount employee-benefits provider, offering plans which enable small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada’s bio-economy to afford group benefits.
BioTalent Canada, a national non-profit HR association for Canada’s bio-economy, has launched the program in partnership with MadRock Financial, an independently owned and operated group benefits and insurance advisory firm, located in Mississauga, Ontario. Group benefits are an integral component of a company’s overall compensation strategy to attract and retain talent, and it is widely known biotechnology startups and SMEs struggle to afford and provide competitive group benefits to their employees.
