Ottawa, June 26, 2024 — BioTalent Canada is proud to announce it has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Places to Work in 2024 by HRD Canada – the world’s leading independent HR publisher.
This distinction follows on the heels of attaining certification by Great Place to Work for the fifth consecutive year and underscores BioTalent Canada’s ongoing dedication to fostering a workplace where the team is considered priority number one. “It’s an honour to be considered a Best Workplace in Canada,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. “This recognition indicates our team’s commitment to building the positive relationships that help shape our organization and industry.”
Organized by HRD Canada, a leading HR professional organization in Canada, the Canadian HR Awards highlight employers implementing innovative human resources initiatives that enhance organizational success and competitiveness. Employers are awarded the Best Workplaces in Canada designation by raising the bar on employee-focused matters like:
- Healthy work-life balance
- Relaxed and open work environment
- Feeling connected through team building and social activities
- Strong co-worker relationships
- Up-to-date tech tools and resources
As a national non-profit supporting the people behind life-changing science, BioTalent Canada champions workforce development through initiatives that ensure the bio-economy’s small- and medium-sized organizations have the tools needed to recruit and retain talent with intention.
“Our ongoing research emphasizes the importance of work-life balance, diversity, inclusion, and equitable practices,” Henderson notes. “These factors not only contribute to organizational resilience but also support our mission to make inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) best practices integral to propelling the success of an organization. We feel strongly that we must exemplify best practices in people management if we are to advocate for them,” he said.
This latest recognition adds to BioTalent Canada’s accolades, including its designation as a certified Great Place to Work® in 2024. For more information on BioTalent Canada and its initiatives, visit biotalent.ca.

About HRD Canada’s Best Place to Work
The entry process for HRD Canada’s third annual Best Places to Work ranking comprised two steps: an employer submission followed by an employee survey.
For the first step, organizations had to complete an in-depth submission with questions looking at key factors, such as employee engagement, turnover rates, average tenure of staff, compensation and benefits, health and wellness programs, diversity initiatives, professional development, corporate culture, flexible work options, reward and recognition, and green programs.
Organizations that successfully completed the first phase were then sent a link to an online employee survey to be circulated internally. To be eligible for the Best Places to Work recognition, organizations had to meet a minimum number of responses based on company size: 1–99 employees = minimum of 10 responses, 100–499 employees = 20+ responses, and 500+ employees = 50+ responses.
The survey asked employees to rate their company across a range of metrics that constituted drivers of employee satisfaction. An employer needed to achieve an overall satisfaction rating of at least 75% to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in 2024.
