National Bio-economy Employment by Region and Subsector, 2019

A table showing the 2019 bio-economy employment by region and sub-sector.  For the bio-economy as a whole, 38% of employees are located in Ontario, 28% in Quebec, 24% in Western Canada, 5% in Atlantic Canada, 5% in the Prairies and less than 1% in the Territories.  In the agri-bio sub-sector, 33% of employees are located in Western Canada, 27% in Ontario, 20% in Quebec, 13% in Atlantic Canada, 6% in the Prairies and less than 1% in the Territories.  In the bio-energy sub-sector, 33% of employees are located in Ontario, 28% in Western Canada, 27% in Quebec, 8% in the Prairies, 4% in Atlantic Canada and less than 1% in the Territories.  In the bio-health sub-sector, 41% of employees are located in Ontario, 28% in Quebec, 22% in Western Canada, 5% of employees are located in Atlantic Canada, 5% in the Prairies and 1% in the Territories.
