The $10,000 scholarship — awarded to students from equity-deserving groups entering their first year of post-secondary education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) — recognizes individuals like Carter who embody the values of leadership and inclusion.

Chaudhuri Basu says her experience at Outbreaker Solutions would not have been possible without the generous wage subsidy provided through SWPP, funding that enabled the small company that focuses on antimicrobial cleansers to take a chance on her.
Now planning to begin her career within the biotech industry and hoping to work in regulatory affairs or strategic management, Mercy says she feels more confident entering the job market having taken BioTalent Canada’s Essential and Technical Fundamentals training courses.
At BioCanRx, a leading Canadian cancer research organization, equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is a constantly evolving endeavour. “Any change can be a challenge,” says Dr. Michaud. “The biggest challenge is often fear of the unknown. But, in the end, we are committed to growth and inclusion as an organization. We know that diversity is strength.”
“BioTalent was very supportive with a lot of the application process. They were really quick with answering questions that we had and throughout the program I thought it was pretty straightforward and a lot of the paperwork was something that we would’ve already been doing so I thought it was just another thing to keep track of that helped”.
