Acadian Plant Health™ is a division of Acadian Seaplants Limited (www.acadianseaplants.com) that provides proven plant health solutions to increase crop productivity and quality. The Quality Assurance Department within this division is responsible for monitoring Quality of the process, this includes but is not limited to raw material testing, in-process testing, equipment audits and calibration and final product quality analysis and evaluation.
The main focus of the position will be to work with various teams of the Cornwallis Manufacturing Facility (Production Operators, Supervisors, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality), reviewing current procedures with the purpose to modify, and add to, the available instructions for best practices in equipment and process operation.
Areas of focus will also include but not be limited to quality-oriented laboratory work and data entry/evaluation. The Cornwallis facility has quality control and microbial laboratory facilities.
RELATIONSHIPS
The individual reports to the Manager QA/QC.
The individual works directly with production and quality teams.
The individual will work with the Supervisors and Engineering personnel to develop and/or modify equipment instructions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Review existing documentation.
- Shadow and audit production operators; comparing actions versus documented procedures with the goal to identifying obsolete, incorrect and/or missing procedures.
- Compare the actions of all operators in the area.
- Present and consult with management, supervisors and engineering for best practices.
- Modify existing procedures, or create new procedures as required to an agreed practice.
- Training will be provided to enable work in the Quality Control and Microbial Laboratory.
- Encourage the proper mindset of all employees at the facility with respect to the assurance of quality and plant health, safety throughout the operation.
- Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management by displaying the appropriate behaviours and leadership towards meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.
REQUIREMENTS
- In progress of completing a BSc. Degree or community college diploma in a scientific discipline with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are requirements of this position.
- Competency in MS Excel and Word. Effective presentation skills. Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and make decisions. An essential requirement is attention to detail in all aspects of this position. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Commitment to excellence.
METHOD OF EVALUATION
The individual will be evaluated on the timeliness, thoroughness and effectiveness of the main project which is the review and updating of production procedures as well as effectiveness in completing day-to day tasks.
