Job Description Summary

The Scientific Recruiter works closely with STEMCELL hiring managers and the recruitment team to hire talented people while delivering an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience. As Canada’s largest biotech and one of Vancouver’s largest technology companies, this role provides an opportunity for the incumbent to work alongside a talented team of recruiters committed to strengthening our employer brand and developing candidate pipelines to fuel growth. Reporting to the Associate Director, Talent and Development, the Scientific Recruiter is a talent scout who enjoys the challenge of finding amazing talent and working in a team based, fast paced, high volume environment.

Education & Qualifications: 
  • Undergraduate degree is preferred or equivalent experience with related training and education. A scientific degree is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2-5 years recruitment experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with an applicant tracking and recruitment marketing system. Experience with Workday Recruiting or other Tier 1 cloud based systems (Oracle, SuccessFactors) is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success recruiting for technical roles, and supporting the full recruiting life cycle.
  • Understanding of technical skills in order to appreciate the requirements of the requisitions, and to communicate with both hiring managers and applicants alike.
  • Experience using social media for recruitment purposes
Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Provides full cycle recruitment including sourcing, screening, behavioural based interview support, reference and background checks and offer
  • Proactively and continuously develops a pipeline of qualified candidates utilizing a variety of data sources, sourcing channels and strategies, including job boards, social media, direct sourcing, campus recruitment and academic networking.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with hiring managers, and proactively manages the recruitment for open job requisitions
  • Operates as a talent advisor bringing an understanding of the external talent market that shapes job design and recruitment strategy
  • Develops and  maintains strong working relationships with HR stakeholders (HR Business Partners, Shared Services team) that contribute to a strong hiring manager and candidate experience and enable proactivity by building awareness of business needs that will result in hiring needs
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with job seekers and the candidate community that nurtures candidate pipelines and our employer brand
  • Works with hiring managers to ensure job postings are clear, complete and attuned to the market and job seekers
  • Coordinates interview schedules with internal stakeholder and candidates as required.
  • Manages candidate communication to ensure a positive and consistent candidate experience.
  • Manages the recruitment process using Workday and TalentBrew tools. Is committed to continuous improvement and process excellence and maintains data integrity and accuracy in Workday system
  • Uses metric sources to inform and drive sourcing strategies
