Purpose of Position

Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Research and Patient Programs, the Research Program Manager is responsible for the management and administration of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s (CCC) ongoing or arising research or patient programs, often developed in partnership with our stakeholders.

The most immediate responsibility of the incumbent will be the management of CCC’s PACE (Promoting Access & Care through Centres of Excellence) Network. For additional information on the PACE Network, the applicant is encouraged to visit CCC’s website (

This position will require working collaboratively with CCC’s external leads in the program that may include clinicians, patients, researchers and other stakeholders. The PACE network requires close collaboration with the Principal Investigators and their research teams to deliver on all program activities under the direction of the Program Principal Investigator, the CCC Vice-President, Research and Patient Programs, and the PACE Oversight Committee.

    Education & Qualifications: 


    • Minimum: undergraduate degree in health or social sciences; graduate degree preferred;
    • A background in/knowledge of health services research, health systems administration and/or the medical field;
    • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to act with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism, and handle sensitive information with discretion;
    • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders (physicians, scientists, donors, industry representatives, patients, etc.);
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to organize workload, set priorities and respond effectively to competing demands;
    • Strong writing skills, in scientific and lay language 
    • Strong aptitude in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint;
    • The ability to work both independently and within a diverse team;
    • Self-motivated, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
    • Experience in event planning and management.


    • Experience using project management tools, such as the SmartSheet platform;
    • Experience with developing and/or using digital technology for research purposes;
    • Proficiency in media, marketing, and communications;
    • French communication skills.
    • 3-5 years of project or program management experience, with responsibility for monitoring and developing budgets and financial reporting
    Duties & Responsibilities: 
    • Spearheads the program - provides the administration, management and execution of all of the program operations;
    • Ensures control and accountability of the program’s finances on a day-to-day basis;
    • Implements and reports on the business plan, highlighting the program’s key objectives and milestones;
    • Maintains regular communications with principal external leaders of the program (e.g. PACE’s Principal Investigators, Steering Committee and Oversight Committee) to help formulate, review and revise annual project work-plans and periodic evaluations;
    • In consultation with the VP of Research and Patient Programs, identifies new potential funding opportunities to expand the program;
    • Develops proposals and prepares budgets for consideration of new initiatives;
    • Develops and maintains effective partnerships and enhances relationships with relevant stakeholders and partners;
    • Works with the internal marketing and communications team to develop and implement strategy for knowledge translation, which may include promoting awareness of activities through creating web and social media content, program evaluation, and gathering and disseminating program updates;
    • Coordinates meetings;
    • Provides administrative support to sub-committees and working groups;
    • Plans and coordinates meetings related to other ongoing CCC research initiatives;
    • Prepares annual reports for the program highlighting accomplishments and achievement of key performance indicators;
    • Liaises with other stakeholder organizations (e.g., Canadian Association of Gastroenterology) to collaborate on and promote initiatives and outcomes of the program (e.g. quality initiatives related to PACE);
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    • Will work out of CCC’s national office located in Toronto.
    • Occasional travel may be required.
