Position Summary

We are currently hiring two (2) Research Associates to join our team. The Research Associate(s) will work in a regulated lab environment and designs, performs and reports laboratory experimental tasks for the development, optimization, verification and validation of assays to measure changes in nucleic acids or protein expression in human clinical samples.


Education & Qualifications: 

Required Knowledge and Education:

  • Minimum community college diploma or B.Sc. M.Sc. preferred;
  • Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or related scientific discipline, along with 2-3 years related laboratory experience, OR an equivalent combination of commercial experience and formal education;
  • Working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements (cGMP, ISO, workplace safety) highly desirable;
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques for nucleic acid analysis and immunoassays;
  • Strong scientific/technical aptitude;
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, customer service and leadership skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a time efficient manner;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to implement design controls, verification and validation strategies in compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and with minimal supervision;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).

Highly Desired Experience:

  • 1-3 yrs research lab experience, preferably in an industrial biotechnology or diagnostic company operating in a regulated manufacturing environment;
  • Hands-on experience in running and troubleshooting RNA/DNA/protein assays;
  • Experience operating in an ISO certified environment highly desirable.
Duties & Responsibilities: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes laboratory protocols for nucleic acids and/or protein assays; 
  • Ensure that assays are properly run with controls in a timely manner according to design requirements;
  • Develop, optimize, verify and validate assays under design control;
  • Purify, QC and amplify nucleic acids from clinical samples. Analyze nucleic acids using microarrays;
  • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and equipment consistent with QSRs;
  • Prepare formal reports documenting experimental results, device and assay designs and verification tests;
  • Maintain lab records, per established procedures;
  • Communicate observations and problems to Director and/or relevant project team leaders;
  • Maintain a neat and safe work area;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
