Summary: 

Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Entry Level Full-time - Permanent

Reporting to the Manager, Quality Control, The Quality Control Assistant will support chemical analysis and characterization of raw materials, drug candidates, and packaging materials, as well as structure elucidation of impurities and degradation products. They will also assist with analytical method development, qualification and transfer activities to support the Quality Control department at IMV.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

What you'll do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine analysis using established SOPs (HPLC content assays, Karl Fisher titration, viscosity, pH and other analytical test methods).
  • Provide support to other chemists in performing analysis.
  • Ensure that laboratory records are completed in a timely manner and according to good documentation practices.
  • Report to supervisor any out of specification results, non-conformances, or deviations.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace and cleaning duties as required.
  • Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments.
  • Assist with method development, qualification and method transfer activities.
  • Perform other assigned duties as requested.
  • What you'll needQualifications
  • Advance diploma or BSc degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or related field
  • 1-3 years experience in a similar role

Aditional Qualifications:

  • Proficienct in analytical instrumentation (pH meter, viscometer, Karl Fisher apparatus, HPLC)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications(Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Proficent in ChemStation computer software
  • Ability to work independently, in small groups, and in team environments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to adjust to changing work plans, schedules, and deadlines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Health Canada/FDA/EU regulations, including GMPs would be considered an asset.
