Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, Talent and Development, the Manager Organizational Learning & Development is responsible for the implementation and delivery of leadership, management development and orientation programs that nurture STEMCELL’s culture, engage our employees, and drive performance. This role will also play a key role in ensuring our learning and development programs integrate and respond to our performance management and talent management programs.

Education & Qualifications: 
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for continuous life-long learning 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver training to adult learners
  • Passionate and curious about trends and best practices in learning and development
  • Master’s Degree in Education (Adult Learning Education Leadership) is preferred or equivalent experience with related training and education. A scientific degree is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 7 years of L&D experience, including instructional design, material development, as well as evaluation, delivery, and facilitation methods for individuals and groups.
  • Experience/certification in MBTI, Birkman, and/or other leadership and development diagnostic tools
  • Knowledge of change management methodology and proven ability to translate it into practical business solutions. Proven project management experience with an ability to effectively mult-task and meet deadlines.
  • Effective internal consulting and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Team orientated with a strong work ethic; willing to pitch in and co-facilitate and/or co-develop with team members
  • Strong written, verbal presentation and influencing skills
  • Expertise in cloud based learning management systems (LMS) and technology such as Adobe Captivate, Workday, Docebo, Talent LMS, Moodle and Dokeos
  • Expertise in graphic/document design and digital/e-learn solutions. Video production experience is an asset.
  • High level proficiency using Google Suite and MS Office products, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel and other education-related tools and resources.
Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Delivers learning programs for leadership, management development, orientation, and continuing education and development of STEMCELL’s workforce, in alignment with STEMCELL’s values, culture and leadership behaviours 
  • Understands the global context and ensures STEMCELL’s learning and development initiatives and approach meet business needs
  • Delivers training to leaders, managers and employees
  • Provides thought leadership and best practices on learning and development, talent management and performance management
  • Assists in the development of training and communication programs aimed at aligning manager and employee activities and behaviour with performance management practices and organizational goals
  • Acts as the liaison and works collaboratively with the HR team, leaders, employees and educators in the business to assess educational needs and priorities, and develops learning strategies and educational plans to meet those needs. Implements and evaluates learning programs.
  • Ensures specialized programs/projects deliverables are completed on time and on budget.  Identifies gaps and tracks metrics as they relate to the project deliverables and provides consultation, guidance and support to external vendors and stakeholders.  Develops, revises, and maintains existing educational programs as well as new program/course/ development.
  • Provides education, consultation, guidance and support to the extended team of STEMCELL educators on curriculum design, materials development and effective learning strategies including teaching, facilitation and simulation. Establishes evaluation plans using logic and Kirkpatrick models to ensure learning programs are meeting learning outcomes.
  • Ensures the development and updating of resources to develop and maintain employee capabilities with changing procedures, processes
  • Provides day to day leadership and management to the learning and development team
  • Chairs the Learning Operations Committee comprised of STEMCELL’s educators from within operations.
  • Responds to the needs of a growing business by being open, curious, creative and flexible
