Recognize your employee and they could win $1,000!
Since 2005, wage subsidies have been instrumental in helping new talent gain employment in biotechnology and assist companies in offsetting the costs of hiring. Over the next four years, BioTalent Canada will be injecting over $10.3 million in federally-funded wage subsidies to facilitate 1,400 job placements in the biotechnology and environmental sectors.

The 2018 MAGNUS Catalyst Award for Top New Hire
The 2018 MAGNUS Catalyst Award for Top New Hire is an employee recognition award, granting $1,000 prize to the young employee who has contributed most significantly to their Canadian biotechnology employer in 2017.
Biotechnology employers are invited to submit applications, detailing their most recent hires through the programs – how these young scientists and entrepreneurs have enhanced innovation, and made substantial contributions to their companies.
Who can participate
- Employers and new graduate employees who participated in one of BioTalent Canada’s wage subsidy programs in 2017
- Nominees are new graduate employees (within 3 years) who participated in one of BioTalent Canada’s wage subsidy programs in 2017
Eligible entrants must have the majority of their placement completed in 2017 or must still be employees of the original wage-subsidy employer at the time of submitting a nomination for the award.
Exclusions – Nominations from the following groups or their family members are ineligible: BioTalent Canada employees and Board of Directors, members of the award Review Panel, and employees of award sponsors. In this context, “family members” is defined as: spouse, partners, parents, children, siblings, and nieces or nephews
While BioTalent Canada is encouraged by the growth in co-op placements in Canada’s bio-economy through the new Student Work-Integrated Learning Program, only new graduates from the following wage subsidy programs are eligible for the 2018 MAGNUS Catalyst Award at this time:
