Job Description


We are looking for a highly motivated  research technician to join the laboratory of Dr Marc Prentki at the Montreal Diabetes Research Center and the Centre de Recherche du CHUM (Angus site).



Job Description:

The successful candidate will work on the identification and development of novel drug candidates for type 2 diabetes. 

Education & Qualifications: 


Baccalaureate in biology/biochemistry or equivalent, with at least 3 year of experience in industry or academic laboratory.



The successful candidate will be experienced in:


In vitro techniques:

·       Recombinant protein production

·       Cell culture

·       Hormone assays (ELISA and RIA)

·       Basic laboratory chemistry (solution preparation, dosage)

·       Basic molecular biology

·       Good Laboratory Practice and data recording (lab book)

In vivo techniques:

·         Animal handling (injections, blood sampling)

·         Rodent colony management and genotyping

·         Rodent anatomy 

Duties & Responsibilities: 


We are looking for a research technician with good written/spoken French & English abilities, with excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.  The candidate will work in a team of 3 people and a larger research group and should have good communication abilities. The recruited technician should be able to solve technical problems and be capable of working under time constraints. Experience in diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease research, particularly in rodent models of diabetes, pancreatic islet isolation, insulin secretion assay and the use of pancreatic cell lines as well as  in preclinical drug discovery are assets.
