A key skills gap has been identified in Canada's bio-economy;- while new graduates have research skills they lack the required experience, management skills and business competencies to enter the bio-economy workforce. This skills combination is critical to strengthen a company's ability to compete globally.
The BioTalent Canada Bridging BioTalent project’s objective was to address this issue. Through this project a national strategy was developed to increase the supply of "job-ready" graduates by providing students with valuable hands-on work experience in the bio-economy during their post-secondary studies.
BioTalent Canada held "Bridging BioTalent" consultations with employers and post-secondary institutions across Canada, regarding the development of a national strategy to assist with the job-readiness of graduates. This national model is focused on providing students, during their post-secondary studies, with valuable project-based work experience in the bio-economy.
